Process Explorer Let You Go beyond Built-in Windows Task Manager

In moments where your PC running really slow or any Program just don’t respond – what will you do?  A quick and easy solution is to open  ‘Task Manager’ by Pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete  and find which Program/Process is dead or not responding and terminate that process. Granted, Microsoft has expanded the Task Manager somewhat and given more information, but it’s still lacking. Don’t you feel so ?

And it makes the job a lot easier. Process Explorer is a great app from Microsoft that has been around since at least Windows XP. In a nutshell, it’s a much more robust and informative version of the standard Task Manager that comes with Windows This freeware utility displays running processes in an intuitive tree format that includes not only process names, but also program icons and other data, such as description, image, and processor time.
It also can identify the process for a given application window or look up a process name in Google–a handy way to spot spyware.

To get this you need to download the latest version of Process free from,

Unzip the zip file and install it on your system.

You can also replace the default Task Manager with Process explorer by clicking on Option > Replace Task Manager
And it will open immediately on pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete

On Windows7

By default Pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete on windows7 will lead to a task page and then you need to chose Task Manager to open Process Explorer

There is a easy way to open process directly on Windows7 (Works on Windows XP also)
Just Try pressing Ctrl+Shift+Esc
